Author’s Column by Tymur Levitin

Everyone talks about “working for results.”
It sounds professional. Focused. Goal-oriented.
But what does it actually mean?

The truth is: without defining the result, the phrase means nothing. And most people never define it.

So let’s start where it matters.

There is no single result.

Every student comes to us with a different aim:

– One wants to pass a visa interview.
– Another wants to read bedtime stories to their child in English.
– Someone else wants to understand contracts in German.
– A teenager wants to stop panicking during school speaking tests.
– A senior adult wants to travel without fear.

Now tell me—can all of them be measured by “one result”?

Of course not.

That’s why at Levitin Language School / Start Language School by Tymur Levitin, we never assume your goal. We ask. And then we build around it.

Language success is not a number.

Language learning isn’t always about levels or certificates.
It’s about doing what you came to do — and doing it with more confidence, clarity, and control.

Sometimes “success” means:

– ordering a coffee in the right accent,
– correcting someone’s grammar and smiling,
– being able to say, “I’m not sure how to explain this, but…” and still keep talking.

These are real, human victories. And they can’t be packaged into one slogan.

Real progress can’t be sold. It has to be earned.

You can pass a test without understanding.
You can memorize phrases and still be terrified to speak.
You can “complete” a course and not know how to respond in real life.

This is why we don’t measure your growth by pages completed or lessons finished.
We measure it by how much more you can do, say, understand, respond to, and navigate — in the situations that matter to you.

That’s why every student at our school follows a slightly different route.
Because if your result is unique — your path has to be, too.

Our teachers work for results. But not for illusions.

Each teacher in our school knows:

– what they can do
– what kind of students they are best suited for
– and when to say: “This isn’t my area — let’s find someone who fits better.”

We never force anyone into a one-size-fits-all program.
We never promise outcomes we can’t deliver.
We never set targets to impress — only to guide.

Because “working for results” only means something when the result is defined, realistic, and shared.

The only result we care about is yours.

If your goal is freedom — we’ll get you there.
If your goal is focus — we’ll help you sharpen it.
If your goal is peace of mind — we’ll help you speak without fear.

But first, you have to tell us: what does success mean for you?
