Language apps (Duolingo, Babbel, Memrise, and many others) have become popular. They are colorful, convenient, and feel like a game. But while apps can help with vocabulary or practice drills, they cannot replace a real online language school.

Apps: practice without responsibility

  • No real conversation. You repeat phrases but don’t build your own ideas.
  • No feedback. The app cannot explain why your sentence sounds unnatural.
  • Gamified, but limited. It’s fun for a while — until you realize you can’t hold a real conversation.
